    Twin Babies' Journal

    Our twins' photo album

    Important Notice

These photo albums were hosted by PhotoPoint. The PhotoPoint site went dark since December 14, 2001. Like many DOT-COM companies, PhotoPoint disappeared from Cyberspace. I have restored most of the pictures on 50megs.com. Most of the files are all in place, I am still linking them to the thumbnails. Meanwhile, please just enjoy whatever is available.

Copyright Notice: No picture in this album should be altered, reproduced, copied, distributed or used in any form or media without the written permission from me. The only exception is the banner at the top of this page. You may use it if you want to link to this web site to yours.

It is extremely difficult to get good pictures of twin babies. The twins seldom look the same direction. My point and shoot camera has a half second delay when the flash is used. At numerous occasions, I thought I pressed the button at the right moment, but the shutter and flash went off after the twins already turned their heads. I have wasted countless frames of film on less than ideal pictures. I got better result with the timing when I use my SLR camera, but it is bulky and heavy. I used it much less than my p&s camera in these days. The pictures below are the better selections among many many others.

    Production details & credits

    Cameras:
Nikon FM2 (fully manual SLR camera with a Nikkor 35mm-105mm zoom lens)
Pentax IQZoom 115M (fully automatic point and shoot camera with a 3X zoom lens)
    SONY DSC-P9 digital camera.
    Films:
35mm Color film, mostly ASA 100 and 200 from Kodak and Fuji.
    Film development:
Mostly done by Costco photo process into 4"x6" glossy color prints
    Scanner:
Microtek ScanMaker III, capable of 36-bit color depth, 600dpi x 1200dpi optical resolution.
UMAX Astra 1200S capable of 30-bit color depth, 600dpi x 1200dpi optical resolution, 9600x9600dpi enhanced resolution.
    Image creation:
done on a Power Macintosh with Adobe Photoshop 4.0. The 4"x6" photo prints were scanned in at 300x300 dpi resolution via Photoshop. The 1200x1800 pixel images are then cropped for composition before reducing the final image size to roughly 300x400 pixels for output into JPEG format. The images are further reduced to around 75x100 pixels for the thumbnail version.
    Credits:
Many thanks to Amy Farnham, the graphic designer who let me use her Microtek scanner, computer and software to produce most of the earlier images.
Also thanks to Ivan Poon for using his scanner to scan the photos on page 7 and 8.
I started using my own UMAX scanner on page 9 of the album. The process is unchanged. Only the scan quality may be different.
There were several pictures taken by our friends cameras. Those in prints were scanned the same way as described above. There were a few pictures downloaded from digital sources.
The newer pictures since 2003 were taken with a Sony DSC-P9 digital camera. The pictures were copied to the computer with no modification.
